What to look for when choosing an attorney?
I am looking for a new attorney, how can I reduce the chances of these problems occurring in the future?
There are many different sides that can be considered when choosing an attorney. First decide what kind of case you would like to pursue. This will determine the kinds of questions you should ask your potential attorney(s).
Research each attorney you are considering. For instance, if you are pursuing a legal malpractice case, hiring an attorney who concentrates his or her practice on personal injury may not provide the best match for your needs. Always check references and proceed with caution when searching for an attorney.
Consider the fee schedule and how the fees are going to be calculated. Find out in advance what expenses other than fees you will be responsible for. Ask for an estimate of the total time it will take to complete the case and for what the total cost will be. You should understand though that it will be difficult for any attorney to give an exact estimate of those figures due to unforeseen circumstances, especially when your case involves a dispute with another party.
There is no guarantee that following these recommendations will increase your chances of a superior judgment nor does it guarantee less of a chance of being subjected to legal malpractice. What it does do is provide suggestions that may help you find the right attorney to fit your needs.
If you have suffered as a result of your attorney's wrongdoing, contact my firm to arrange a time when we can discuss your case.
